APED – Prompt 16: The Writer Weeps

This poem was written for A Prompt Each Day, a daily dose of inspiration.  For today’s prompt – we were given a phrase “Once Upon a time” to inspire our writing.  This was a harder prompt than usual because it actually had a word limit – 33 words.  I was fortunate enough that it actually completed on the 33rd word.

The Writer Weeps

Whenever words replace with silence

Weary hands release the pen

Without meaning – the writer weeps

Stalls his beating heart – and then

Once upon a time, is written

Prayer for words to come again.
