APED – Prompt 24: We Made Progress Here

prompt09

This poem was written for A Prompt Each Day, a daily dose of inspiration.  For today’s prompt – we were given a list of ten words to inspire our writing.  The words are listed above.  I was able to use nine of them.  With these prompts – it is sometimes hard to know where it is going to take you.  This is where today’s prompt took me today.  I hope you like it.

Let’s not

Revert

To ancient ways

Of stories told

And honest heart

That yearns to hear.

We’ve made progress here.

It is

Our nature

To evolve

We seek to mold

and forge ahead

No more time for rest

We’ve made progress here.

No warmth

Of eyes

No voice

To hear

We stay plugged in

Then we disconnect

We’ve made progress here.

We have

No clue

What we’ve lost

A dance of one

And no one cares

And all that’s good is left behind

Yet – we’ve made progress here.

  1. This hit hard! “We stay plugged in, and then we disconnect” – It was such a witty satire on our dependence on technology. The poem is filled with intelligent phrases like this. Hats off to you, ma’am 🙂
