Photography and a Poem: Tears Among Sandstone

Another beautiful park that inspires and tells its own story.  We have hiked here many times.  I wrote the following poem inspired by the photographs.  Hope you enjoy them!

All in formation – sandstone red

Push forth and reach up to the sky

Your wondrous beauty does bespeak

Of other times and lives gone by.

What other feet – this path have tread

What loves – what sorrows have they known

What tears they cried – what thoughts of joy

Were shared beneath your wall of stone.

Whatever must have come before

A secret only you have kept

And as I slowly walk away

Only you know here – what tears I wept.
