APED – Prompt 38: Advice from a Faded Soul

This poem was written for A Prompt Each Day, a daily dose of inspiration.  For today’s prompt – we were given ten words to inspire our writing (see below).  I was able to use all of them in this poem.  I hope you enjoy what I was able to see in these words.

Advice From a Faded Soul

 

Turn your face and then pay heed

Be not deceived by faded soul

Live your life not fueled by greed

You seek – you strive to still feel whole.

 

False assurances some try to sell

True living is not for the meek

But live I’ve lived and lived it well

so listen to these words I speak.

 

Live like you’ll never stumble

Hold fast to all your dreams

Share you gifts and still be humble

Kindness rewards more than it seems.

 

Love hard and care yet deeply

Wear your heart upon your sleeve

Do not fear to feel intensely

Do not do what makes you grieve.

 

Mistakes are a time for learning

Shows you strengths you never knew

Build a life that is worth living

Paint your world a different hue.

 

Seek beauty in what is different

Learning lessons from days of old

At others’ tears – be not indifferent

For mercy fills a heart with gold.

 

Hide not your hands in pockets

Waiting for a perfect world

Discharge your dreams like rockets

Live not – your life unfurled.

 

Set sail upon life’s river

Looking not upon Dead Sea

Tranquil ease to your heart deliver

Remember these last words from me.
