This poem was written for A Prompt Each Day, a daily dose of inspiration. For today’s prompt – we were a word to inspire our writing (write). The first verse came to me right away and the rest just followed. Consider it a love poem from one who writes to one who struggles to express themselves with the written word. Write me a love song. Let me know what you think.
Write to me of love and dreams
Of butterflies on gossamer wings
Of truths untold of pain that stings
Write them down for me.
Write to me of passion’s touch
Of heartbreak when you love too much
Of loss when memories you clutch
Write them down for me.
Write to me of beauty’s snare
Of moments when your soul was bare
Of desperate truths you sought in prayer
Write them down for me.
Write to me with blazing tongue
Despite words that are still young
Let not your story be unsung
Write them down for me.

I hope the one who doesn’t write too much is inspired by such a poem to try writing her heart out. 🙂 Quite beautiful, especially the opening verse.

We can always hope. For some – words just don’t come as easily – and that’s okay. It takes different types of people to get the job of everyday living done 🙂

Every bit of it is beautiful, haunting–the repeated line had me tearful.

Oh a few tears won’t hurt nothin’ in this ridiculous HEAT–it’s near 90 inside (no AC); hoping for cooler next week….

Oh – Sharmishtha – you missed me. I am truly touched. I thought no one noticed my absence 🙂 Actually we are just busier than usual lately and getting ready for a trip. I will return soon – and hopefully with more pictures and poems to share. I still want to read the links you shared with me. I truly want to understand more. It is never a good thing to be ignorant of what your neighbors are going through. I do care.
